Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University students, alumni and
fans will have a special opportunity to be part of a live radio
show originating from the FSU campus this coming Tuesday (Feb. 4)
The Doctor & Bentley morning show, which can be heard on West Michigan's Sports Leader 107.3 WBBL FM in the Grand Rapids market, will broadcast live from The Rock Cafe on the Big Rapids campus from 6-9 a.m. (ET).
Students, fans and the general public are encouraged to come out for the live show with The Rock opening for its normal breakfast schedule beginning at 7 a.m. (ET). The show will be making its third appearance on the FSU campus following a visit each of the last two years.
A number of special guests will be interviewed during the show with tentative guests potentially including head coaches such as hockey's Bob Daniels, men's basketball head coach Andy Bronkema, football head coach Tony Annese and women's basketball head coach Colleen Lamoreaux-Tate among others. The FSU pep band also plans to make a morning appearance.
"We're thrilled to once again welcome WBBL and the Doctor & Bentley show to campus," said FSU Associate Athletic Director Jon Coles. "They are the most listened to sports talk radio station on this side of the state and we're excited to continue a great partnership with them. It will be a great morning to talk about Ferris State Athletics."
Tuesday's show will preview a busy week in Bulldog Athletics that will include men's and women's basketball home contests against Michigan Tech on Thursday (Feb. 6) and Northern Michigan on Saturday (Feb. 8) along with the nationally sixth-ranked Bulldog Hockey team's home series against NMU on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8). It will also highlight other important things going on at Ferris State University, including a preview of football's National Signing Day activities on Wednesday (Feb. 5).
The Doctor & Bentley show airs weekly Monday thru Friday on WBBL and can also be heard live online at www.wbbl.com. It is hosted by West Michigan radio personality Tim Doctor and former National Football League (NFL) player Ray Bentley. FSU Athletics has partnered with WBBL each of the last two falls for a special "Ferris Friday's" segment on the show.
The Rock Cafe is located at 1420 Knollview Drive on the Ferris State campus. It is approximately one block south of Top Taggart Field across from the football practice fields. The renovated student dining area offers the next generation of student dining with a popular marketplace concept.
WBBL is owned and operated by Cumulus Media and Mediaspan. The station regularly covers high school, collegiate and professional sports across the state with featured shows such as Doctor & Bentley, the Huge Show, Jim Rome, Dan Patrick and others in addition to live game coverage.
The partnership with WBBL is part of an expanded broadcast effort established by FSU Athletics over the past two years which began with its flagship home of the Bulldog Sports Network, Sunny 97.3 FM, in Big Rapids. For the third consecutive year, Sunny 97.3 FM has again carried all Bulldog football and hockey along with men's and women's basketball contests to date in 2013-14.
