"Ferris State Friday's" Debuts This Week On WBBL
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics has
announced a partnership with popular West Michigan sports leader
WBBL and will debut "Ferris State Friday's" starting this week.
"Ferris State Friday's" will air at approximately 7:30 a.m. (ET)
every Friday morning as part of the "Bakita & Bentley" morning
show on the Grand Rapids based station. The eight to 10
minute weekly segment will feature a live interview with a Bulldog
guest in addition to a ticket giveaway and more.
New football head coach Tony Annese will be the
first featured guest on "Ferris State Friday's" as the segment
debuts this Friday (Aug. 24).
"We're thrilled to partner with WBBL," said FSU Associate Athletic
Director Jon Coles. "They are the most
listened to sports talk radio station on this side of the state and
we're excited to expand our brand with them.
"This initiative, in addition to our partnership with Charter
Media in Grand Rapids, will give us the opportunity to share our
story and success with one of the largest demographics for sports
fans in the state. With close to 35,000 alumni in the
WBBL listening area, we hope to revive the Bulldog spirit and make
Big Rapids a destination point this coming fall and winter for
alumni and fans," he added.
The "Bakita & Bentley" morning show airs weekdays on WBBL
107.3 FM in Grand Rapids and can also be heard live online at www.wbbl.com.
The show is hosted by veteran sports announcer Bret Bakita and
former National Football League (NFL) player Ray Bentley. It
runs daily from 6-9 a.m. (ET).
"We are so excited here on the "Bakita & Bentley" show and
107.3 WBBL FM to be partnering with the Ferris State University
Athletics Department this fall to promote both Bulldog football and
FSU Athletics," said Bakita. "There is a lot of excitement in
Big Rapids and the West Michigan area right now with the Ferris
State brand, especially after the Frozen Four run last year with
the hockey team, and we are excited to be a media partner who can
help spread the Bulldog news."
The partnership with WBBL for "Ferris State Friday's" builds on
the success FSU Athletics began last year with its flagship home of
the Bulldog Sports Network, Sunny 97.3 FM, in Big Rapids. For
the second consecutive year, Sunny 97.3 FM will again carry Bulldog
football and hockey along with men's and women's basketball
contests in 2012-13. All games are also streamed live online
at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
