Ferris State Basketball Opens Final Regular-Season Stretch At Home This Thursday Night

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams begin their final four-game stretch of the regular season at home on Thursday (Feb. 20) night with a league twinbill against the Wayne State Warriors inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The Bulldogs will host WSU in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on Thursday evening with the women's game set to tipoff first at 6 p.m. (ET) followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m. (ET).

Thursday night's doubleheader will represent "Faculty Apprecation Day" as the Bulldogs honor campus faculty members.

In addition, a special promotion for all Ferris State University students will also take place as part of "RSO Appreciation Day". Each registered student organization on campus with a minimum of 15 people present will be eligible to win up to $300 for their group. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Chelsea Konarzewski at konarzc@ferris.edu
or call (989) 397-8735 by Wednesday.

Again this season, one lucky Bulldog fan will also have a chance to win $10,000 at every conference home game as part of the Lake Osceola State Bank $10,000 Shootout.  One contestant will be picked at random for a chance to make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot in 25 seconds.

Ferris State home basketball tickets can be purchased in advance thru the FSU Athletics Ticket Office by calling (231) 591-2888 or visit FerrisStateBulldogs.com for more information. They can also be bought online via StarTickets.com.

Adult general admission tickets are $7 or the cost is $5 for FSU faculty/staff, seniors ages 65 and up or students age 3 thru 12th grade. FSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID card.

Following Thursday's league twinbill, both Bulldog teams will visit Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 22) for a GLIAC evening doubleheader that begins at 5 and 7 p.m. (ET) for the women and men, respectively. FSU then returns home next week for its last two games of the regular-season against Grand Valley State (Feb. 27) and Saginaw Valley State (March 1) inside Wink Arena.

The Bulldog women's team is coming off an exciting 72-68 double-overtime road win at Lake Superior State last Saturday and will face a nationally 21st-ranked Wayne State team on Thursday night that leads the GLIAC with a 19-4 overall record to go with a 16-3 league slate. The two teams met earlier this season in Detroit with the Warriors winning a high-scoring 88-83 decision. Meanwhile, SVSU is 12-9 on the year and 10-8 in the GLIAC heading into a Thursday night women's matchup at Grand Valley State.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs nearly came back from a 17-point second half deficit against nationally 20th-ranked Lake Superior State on Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie. FSU trimmed the margin back to two points inside of 30 seconds before falling 89-86 in the contest. WSU is 11-11 overall and 9-10 in league play while SVSU holds a 9-13 record and a 5-13 GLIAC slate entering the week.

Thursday' home doubleheader will be broadcast locally by Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with the Meijer Pregame Show a half-hour prior to tipoff of the women's game. Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston will call the action. A live audio broadcast, pay-per-view video webcast and live internet statistics will also be offered with all links accessible online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.

Saturday's road contests at Saginaw Valley State will not be carried on the local radio flagship station due to Ferris State Hockey coverage, but will be streamed live online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
