Big Rapids, Mich. - After one of the best starts in school history, the Ferris State University men's basketball squad is ranked among the top five teams in the country this week in both of the major Division II college basketball polls.

This week, FSU is listed third in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) rankings along with fifth by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

The Bulldogs' 10-0 start to date this year is second all-time in school history and is also the best mark of any Division II men's basketball squad in the country this season. FSU is one win shy of matching the 11-0 start recorded in 1972-73 for the best season-opening performance in school history.

FSU's number three ranking in the D2SIDA poll this week is the Bulldogs' best in the short history of the poll while the number five listing in the NABC poll the past two weeks is the program's best since being ranked #1 in the country for two weeks near the end of the 1988-89 campaign.

This week marks the 51st time overall in history in which the Bulldogs have been found in the NABC Top 25 along with the 19th time in which FSU has been listed in the top 10 and the eighth time in the top five overall.

In addition to the national rankings, FSU is tied for first in the D2SIDA Midwest Regional Rankings along with Bellarmine (Ky.).

This week, the Bulldogs hit the road for a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) games as FSU visits Northwood on Thursday (Dec. 7) for an 8 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Midland followed by a trip to Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Dec. 9) with tipoff set for 6 p.m. (ET) in University Center.
