"What A Weekend" On Tap In Big Rapids!

Big Rapids, Mich. - A big weekend is on tap in Big Rapids as the Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads along with the Bulldog Hockey team are all slated to be in action at home.

The nationally 10th-ranked Ferris State hockey team will host the Michigan State Spartans in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 27-28) nights at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.  FSU is unbeaten in its last six outings (4-0-2) and coming off an exciting weekend in which FSU captured five of a possible six points versus fifth-ranked Ohio State on the road this past weekend.  

A special "Pregame Meet and Greet" will take place prior to Friday's home hockey contest as fans and the local community will have an opportunity to meet new FSU head football coach Tony Annese and his staff.  The event is FREE and begins at 5 p.m. (ET) at Buffalo Wild Wings.  It will feature both appetizers and drink specials.

On Saturday, Bulldog fans will be treated to a tripleheader as all three teams are in action inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex.  The Bulldogs host archrival Grand Valley State on the hardwood with the women's contest starting at 1 p.m. (ET) and the men's game to follow at 3 p.m. (ET) in Jim Wink Arena.  Both Ferris State teams are currently in first place in the GLIAC North Division standings heading into the week.

Finally, Bulldog Hockey wraps up its series' versus the Spartans on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. (ET).  A near sellout crowd is expected for the weekend series' with tickets going fast.

Lucky fans will have an opportunity to compete for a chance to win $10,000 on Saturday.  The basketball doubleheader will feature a $10,000 shot sponsored by Lake Osceola State Bank while Saturday's hockey showdown will include five $10,000 shots sponsored by The Gate. 

Saturday's basketball doubleheader will also represent "Kidz Day" sponsored by Jet's Pizza.  The fun, exciting and free activities for kids include an arts and crafts table, bounce house, halftime activities, face painting, photos with Brutus the Bulldog and more. The "Kidz Day" events are free to children in grades K-12 with a paid adult.  Additionally, all kids four years old and under are free.

Tickets for all 2011-12 Bulldog home regular-season games can be purchased in advance by contacting the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888. The FSU Athletics Ticket Office's normal hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET) weekdays. The ticket office will also offer extended hours until 7 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday's throughout the season and be open on hockey home game Saturday's at 12 p.m. (ET).
