Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 10th-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will attempt to maintain its hold on first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) standings as the Bulldogs host longtime conference foe Alaska this weekend in Big Rapids.
The Bulldogs, who currently lead the WCHA with a 8-2-1 overall record and a 5-0-1 league slate, host the Nanooks in a two-game set at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. The series gets underway on Friday (Nov. 22) night with the finale on Saturday (Nov. 23). Both games are set for 7:07 p.m. (ET) puck drops.
This week's number 10 national ranking represents the Bulldogs' highest placing in the poll since finishing second overall in the final 2011-12 USCHO.com Division I poll announced after FSU's historic appearance in the national championship game at the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four.
Ferris State holds a two-point lead over second place Bemidji State in the WCHA standings entering the weekend series. Meanwhile, Alaska is seven points back in a tie for fifth place despite playing only four league games to date heading into the weekend. The Nanooks are currently 5-3-2 overall and 2-2 in league action.
A special Food Drive will take place this Friday night and all fans who donate four canned goods will receive $4 off their ticket if purchased in advance prior to gameday while supplies last. The Bulldogs will also hold the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Friday night with fans encouraged to bring a new or gently-used bear to throw on the ice after the first Bulldog goal. The items will be donated to those in need during the holiday season.
In addition, FSU will also be offering a BRAJHA weekend special to all members of the Big Rapids Area Junior Hockey Association. Those who purchase in advance can recieve $6 tickets available as supplies last for all BRAJHA players, parents and siblings.
Single-game tickets for all FSU home contests this season are currently on sale and can be bought online at StarTickets.com, by calling 1-800-585-3737 or purchased in person at the FSU Athletics Ticket Office. The ticket office will be open inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET) along with extended hours on Wednesday until 7 p.m. (ET).

Overall, Ferris State and Alaska will be facing off for the 64th and 65th times this weekend. The Nanooks hold a narrow 30-29-4 all-time series edge over the Bulldogs, but FSU is 16-9-3 against Alaska inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
This weekend's series' wraps up a six-game homestand for the Bulldogs. The two games against the Nanooks will be FSU's final action at home in the 2013 calendar year until the Bulldogs return to home ice on Jan. 10-11 versus Michigan Tech.
