Big Rapids, Mich. - Following a weekend home sweep, a pair of Ferris State University men's ice hockey players have been chosen as Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WHCA) Players of the Week.

Bulldog redshirt sophomore forward Craig Pefley (St. Clair) was named the recipient of this week's WCHA Offensive Player of the Week honor with sophomore goaltender Justin Kapelmaster (Coral Springs, Fla.) garnering WCHA Goaltender of the Week recognition.

Pefley tallied a league-best four points, contributing two goals and two assists in Ferris State's sweep of visiting Alaska Anchorage. The redshirt-sophomore forward matched his career high by collecting all four points in Saturday's 5-2 victory, including the tie-breaking, game-winning goal at the 7:21 mark of the third period. He also scored a power-play marker in the second period, while assisting on Taylor Fernandez' two goals in the final four minutes of the contest.

On the strength of that game, the St. Clair, Mich. native also tied for the WCHA lead with a plus-3 rating and tied for seventh nationally in points. This is Pefley's first WCHA weekly award of the 2017-18 campaign and his third career honor, after earning a pair of Rookie of the Week accolades last season.

Kapelmaster led the WCHA with two wins, a 1.00 goals-against average, a .961 save percentage (49-for-51) and one shutout, backstopping Ferris State to a sweep of visiting Alaska Anchorage. The sophomore from Coral Springs, Fla. made 22 saves in a 2-0 victory Friday for his first shutout of the season and his third career clean sheet. He then made 27 stops in a 5-2 triumph Saturday, while stopping all 10 shots faced in the third period as the Bulldogs snapped a 2-2 tie with three goals over the final 20 minutes.

With the wins, Kapelmaster and Ferris State have won four-straight home WCHA games. This is Kapelmaster's second WCHA weekly award of the 2017-18 campaign and his fifth career honor (he earned two Rookie of the Week accolades and one Defensive Player of the Week nod last season).

Along with the two WCHA Player of the Week honors, the Bulldogs also had a pair of honorable mention choices in defenseman Ryker Killins (Defensive Player of Week) and rookie Coale Norris (Rookie of Week).

This week, the Bulldogs hit the road to face the Michigan Tech Huskies on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9, in Houghton, Mich. Both games get underway at 7:07 p.m. (ET).
