Bulldogs Fall In Third-Place Match At GLIAC Championships To Wayne State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team wrapped up action in the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament with a fourth-place finish following a 5-0 setback to Wayne State on Sunday (April 27) in Midland, Mich.

FSU, which beat rival Grand Valley State in the first round on Friday before suffering a 5-3 setback in the semifinals to Findlay on Saturday, fell behind 3-0 following the doubles round against the Warriors and could not comeback as WSU avenged an earlier regular-season setback to the Bulldogs in Big Rapids.

Wayne State pulled out the win at the Midland Community Tennis Center by taking the first two completed singles contests at the second and sixth flights in the lineup. The other four singles positions went unfinished after the match winner was determined.

Ferris State dropped to 10-15 overall this season with the setback while the Warriors improved to 12-8 on the year.

The Bulldogs were ranked eighth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Rankings prior to the start of the conference tournament. The official selection of this year's NCAA Tournament field will be announced Tuesday evening at NCAA.com.
