Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams will take part in the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday (March 1-2) in Hillsdale, Mich.
The annual league meet will be hosted by Hillsdale College at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center, which is located next to the George Roche Sports Complex on campus. In all, the championship meet will feature 15 of the 16 members of the conference.
Single-day passes are $7 for an adult, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. A two-day pass can be purchased for $10.
The GLIAC meet begins at 10 a.m. (ET) on Saturday with the start of the women's 60 meter hurdles, followed by the men's 60 meters at 10:25 a.m. The running events will begin at 3:50 p.m. with the women's 5,000 meters. Field events will start at 4 p.m. with the women's weight throw. The final running event will take place at 7:50 p.m. with the men's distance medley relay.
The second and final day opens with the first running event beginning at 1:15 p.m. with the women's mile.
Scoring in the meet will be on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for eight places for individuals and relay events.
Four men's teams and four women's teams are in the top 25 of the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings, including the Ferris State women's team which is ranked 21st overall in the nation's Division II listing.
