Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior runner Brandon Cushman of the Ferris State University men's cross country team has been recognized by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for his recent efforts by being chosen as the GLIAC Runner of the Week.
Cushman led the Bulldogs at the 2013 Greater Louisville Classic held last Saturday (Oct. 5) at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. He placed 26th overall among all runners at the highly-competitive race, which included Division I institutions.
In addition, Cushman was 11th in scoring position in the collegiate Gold Division and clocked 25:11.76 on the 8K course in the event hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission. His efforts helped the Bulldog men place sixth in the Gold Division at the Greater Louisville Classic, which is annually one of the nation's largest and most competitive cross country invitationals.
Ferris State is currently listed sixth in the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Midwest Regional Rankings along with being chosen among others receiving votes at 30th in the country in the national poll.
This week, the Bulldogs will compete on Saturday (Oct. 12) in the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis.
FSU then heads to the 2013 GLIAC Championships on Oct. 26 in Houghton, Mich.
