Big Rapids, Mich. - The 2013 Ferris State University softball team is slated to play its home opener on Friday (March 29) as the Bulldogs host the Lake Erie Storm in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
Opening pitch for game one is at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) with the second game to follow approximately 20 minutes following the conclusion of the opener.
Ferris State, which is coached by first-year head coach Marie Foster, will also host league newcomer Walsh on Saturday (March 29) in a twin bill starting at 1 p.m. (ET). The FSU Athletics Department will hold an Easter Egg Hunt for kids on Saturday prior to the contest at 12:30 p.m. (ET) if weather permits.
Overall, FSU is scheduled to play a total of 12 home contests this spring in league action over the course of six doubleheaders.
The Bulldogs presently own a 9-7 overall mark this campaign. Ferris State opened the year with a 6-1 start at the Florida Rebel Spring Games, which marked the Bulldogs' second-best start in the last 15 years.
Currently, FSU is 2-2 in the GLIAC after last weekend's first conference action where the
Bulldogs fell in two games at Ashland before bouncing back to sweep Malone on Sunday.
The Bulldogs were picked to finish fourth in this year's GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
