Ferris State's Dana Bowler Tabbed As GLIAC Pitcher Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior pitcher Dana Bowler (Lockport, Ill.) of the Ferris State University softball team has claimed this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Week honor after an impressive weekend for the Bulldogs.

Bowler registered a perfect 4-0 mark over the weekend as the Bulldogs captured four of a possible six league road wins.  She tossed 30 innings with four complete games and allowed only five runs and 17 hits. 

This past weekend, Bowler struck out 36 batters and walked only eight while registering an impressive 0.70 earned run average.  In addition, the veteran ace also pitched two shutouts, which included a 5-0 victory to open the trip at Wayne State on Friday along with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Tiffin in nine innings on Sunday. 

Bowler ran her mark to 14-6 overall this season with the four victories for the Bulldogs.  The opponents' hit only .163 against her for the week.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play four days in a row to wrap up league regular-season action this week.  

On Thursday (April 25), the Bulldogs will visit Saginaw Valley State for a two-game league set, weather permitting, in University Center with the game times set for 3 and 5 p.m. (ET).

After Thursday's twinbill at SVSU, the Bulldogs host Findlay in conference action on Friday, April 26, beginning at 3:30 p.m. for game one of a two-game series in Big Rapids.  FSU will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Title IX with a special event being held in conjunction with Friday's action.

Then, on Saturday (April 27), FSU entertains Hillsdale for two conference home contests slated to begin at 1 p.m. (ET).

Finally, on Sunday (April 28) the Bulldogs will face Northwood beginning at 2 p.m. (ET) for game one and game two to follow in Big Rapids.

Ferris State currently owns a 20-12 overall mark to date this season after winning four of a possible six games on the road over a three-day span this past weekend. FSU is currently 12-6 in league play and only a game out of second place in the conference.
