Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team's scheduled Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home doubleheaders versus Ashland and Malone scheduled for this weekend (March 22-23) in Big Rapids have been cancelled.
The two league twinbills, which were to serve as FSU's first home contests of the 2014 campaign, were called off due to weather and field conditions. No plans have been made at this time for makeup dates.
With the cancellations this weekend, Ferris State's next scheduled action is a home non-league doubleheader versus Lewis (Ill.) on Wednesday, March 26, beginning at 3 and 5 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Softball Field. As of now, that contest has not been called off.
The Bulldogs are then slated to play what will now be their first league games on the road at Lake Erie next Saturday (March 29) beginning at 1 p.m. (ET) in Painesville, Ohio. FSU then faces Walsh on Sunday (March 30) in Canton, Ohio.
Ferris State currently owns a 5-6 overall record to date this season and is riding a three-game winning streak under first-year head coach Sarah Rotta following the Bulldogs' annual appearance in the Florida Rebel Spring Games played last week in Winter Haven, Fla.
