Ferris State Soccer Holding Bulldog Winter Futsal Camp On March 1
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer program will be holding the Bulldog Winter Futsal Camp on Saturday, March 1, at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Complex.
The camp will provide college bound soccer players an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities through exercises centered on speed of play, quick decision-making, competitiveness, and team play.
The camp will begin with check-in at 10 a.m. (ET) and run until approximately 6 p.m. (ET) with a cost of $105 per individual.
"This is a great opportunity for high school players to get to the beautiful Ferris State campus and for them to be seen by our staff while competing in a fast paced, high intensity environment," said FSU women's soccer head coach Andy McCaslin. "We'll be inviting college coaches from all over the state and region so we're expecting a great turnout of both players and coaches to make the event as useful for everyone in attendance as possible. It will make the recruiting seminar more productive as well with multiple voices from multiple schools.
"The players will go through a training session which will address technical skill and agility, both things that will immediately translate for them into the small sided games and when they go back to their club and high school teams," he added. "Also, current Ferris State players will be at the camp to help demonstrate as well as to answer any questions the campers have from the recruiting process to the college experience."
Additional information on the event can be found below. For questions, please contact FSU women's soccer head coach Andy McCaslin at (847) 525-9642 or via email at: email@example.com.
Ferris State wrapped up the 2013 fall season with a 9-8-2 overall record under McCaslin as the Bulldogs posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in school history and reached the semifinals for only the third time in the program's 15 years.
This year marked Ferris State's fourth consecutive conference tournament appearance, which is also the longest stretch in school history. FSU's trip to the semifinals also represented the first time in school history in which the Bulldogs have advanced to the second round of the conference tournament in back-to-back years. Ferris State closed the year with a 7-1 overall record at home this season and this year also represented only the sixth time in the program's history in which the Bulldogs have won at least nine contests in a campaign.
The Bulldog Winter Futsal Camp will be held on Saturday March 1, 2014. The purpose of this camp will be to provide college bound soccer players an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities through exercises centered on speed of play, quick decision-making, competitiveness, and team play. All field players and goalkeepers will be evaluated by the Ferris State University Women's Soccer coaching staff and other elite coaches from around the state and region. The environment will be high-intensity which will simulate the college training session which they will experience at the next level. All games will be indoors and small sided (3v3-6v6) to provide maximum touches throughout the day. This smaller playing environment will create more opportunity for the prospective student athletes to be involved and will show the coaches in attendance how the players perform in high pressure situations. Each player will receive a numbered camp shirt for easy recognition by college coaches. There will be a recruiting seminar aiming to help campers and parents maneuver the difficult recruiting process. Current Bulldog players will also be around the camp so they will have the opportunity to answer questions campers have throughout the day.
