Big Rapids, Mich. - For the first time in her collegiate career, Ferris State University sophomore goalkeeper Alison Chesterfield (South Elgin, Ill./Saint Charles East) has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week.
Chesterfield shutout league regular-season champion and nationally-ranked Grand Valley State in the Bulldogs' final contest of the regular-season at home on Friday (Oct. 27) as FSU scored a 1-0 decision over the Lakers for their first win in the West Michigan rivalry in 15 years.

The Bulldogs managed to earn the victory despite being outshot 26-13 for the match. Chesterfield notched her second consecutive shutout while improving to 2-0 on the year.
Ferris State will open GLIAC Tournament action at home on Tuesday (Oct. 31) as the Bulldogs host Saginaw Valley State in the quarterfinal-round. Match time is set for 3 p.m. (ET) at the South Athletic Fields on the FSU campus.
The first 100 FSU students will receive free tickets to the contest and a costume contest will take place at halftime for over $100 in prizes, including $50 to the Blue Cow in downtown Big Rapids.
