Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team will open play in the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday (Oct. 26) evening in Midland, Mich.
The three-day event runs thru Sunday (Oct. 28) and will take place at the Midland Community Tennis Center.
FSU will be the fifth overall seed in the eight-team field and face fourth-seeded Ashland in the first round on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. (ET) for the second consecutive year.
The second round of the tournament will be on Saturday (Oct. 27) at 3:45 p.m. (ET) with the final round of play set for Sunday (Oct. 28) starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET).
Northwood holds down the top seed heading into the tournament with Wayne State listed second and Grand Valley State third.
Ferris State wrapped up regular-season play with a 10-5 overall mark while placing fifth in conference action with a 9-5 league slate. The Bulldogs dropped a 6-3 decision to Ashland earlier this month (Oct. 13) in regular-season play at Big Rapids.
Last season, the Bulldogs finished fifth overall at the 2011 GLIAC Tournament (10/21-23) held in Midland. Ferris fell to Ashland 5-1 in last year's opening round before beating Saginaw Valley State 5-1 in the semifinals. FSU topped Lake Superior State 5-0 for fifth place.
Ashland presently holds a 11-3 overall and league mark this season going into the GLIAC Tournament.
