Bulldog Women's Tennis Drops Opening Match Of Weekend Homestand

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team opened a three-match weekend homestand, but could not come out with a victory on Friday (Sept. 13) as FSU fell to visiting Wayne State by a 8-1 count at the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The visiting Warriors won two of the three doubles flights in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match and then swept the singles round en route to the victory.

FSU's lone win was posted by a pair of freshmen in Gabrielle Demchenko and Sydney Berens, who teamed up for an 8-2 triumph at the number three doubles spot.

With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in league play to date this season.

Ferris State will be back in action again on Saturday (Sept. 14) as FSU hosts Hillsdale in league play beginning at 11 a.m. (ET).  The Bulldogs will then face Findlay on Sunday (Sept. 15) in GLIAC action starting at 10 a.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
