Women's Tennis Ends Fall Season On High Note With Shutout Win At GLIAC Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team ended the fall 2013 campaign on a high note as the Bulldogs swept Ashland 5-0 in the seventh-place match at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in Midland.

The eighth-seeded Bulldogs upset the seventh-seeded Eagles as FSU swept the doubles round and took the top two completed singles flights to earn the win.

Ferris State wrapped up the fall season with an 8-9 overall record while Ashland fell to 7-10 overall.

The Bulldogs received decisive doubles wins by identical 8-1 scores at the top two flights in the lineup while the third doubles pairing notched a 8-2 triumph.

In singles competition, FSU's Janie Sell was a straight-set winner at the fourth spot while jessica Wilcox did the same at the sixth flight.

Ferris State is tentatively slated to open its spring season at home against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Feb. 15 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
