Big Rapids, Mich.- For the second consecutive week, a Ferris State University cross country student-athlete recently attained Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) weekly award recognition.
Ferris State's Samantha Johnson was chosen as the GLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week over the weekend for her performance a week ago when she claimed the individual championship at the annual Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (Oct. 12) in Kenosha, Wis.
The Bulldog standout clocked 17:25.5 to win a large field in the 5K race. Her performance helped the Bulldogs to a ninth place overall finish in the team standings of more than 25 competing schools in the regional event.
She was one of two Bulldog runners to place in the top four overall along with senior Anna Rudd.
Her recognition came a week after men's cross country standout Brandon Cushman was chosen as the GLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Ferris State returns to action as both Bulldog teams take part in the 2013 GLIAC Championships on Saturday (Oct. 26) in Houghton, Mich.
