Ferris State University Athletics announced the appointment of Brady Hopkins as an assistant athletic trainer for the Bulldogs, beginning in the 2018-19 season. The announcement was made by new Head Athletic Trainer Brett Knight.
Hopkins most recently served the past five years on Knight's staff at Alma College as the Associate Athletic Trainer.
Since 2013, Hopkins has served at Alma where he's played an active role in all facets of the athletic training operation. His primary sport responsibilities included football, wrestling, baseball, cheerleading along with men's and women's golf. During his tenure with the Scots, he took an active role in inventory, documentation of injuries, organizing weekly injury clinics and coordinating schedules while providing effective clinical experiences to athletic training students among his other duties.
Prior to his position at Alma, Hopkins served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at NCAA Division I Eastern Illinois University where he worked with women's rugby, swimming, football and baseball. His past experiences also includes serving as a member of the Alma College Campus Safety Committee along with providing on-site medical coverage and first aid at several major events such as the Illinois State Freestyle Wrestling Championships, the National Junior College Indoor Track and Field Championships, the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Tournament and the Iowa High School State Dual Wrestling Championships.
Hopkins is a member of the Michigan Athletic Trainers' Society and the National Athletic Trainers' Association. He also holds certifications as a performance enhancement specialist and a corrective exercise specialist along with being certified by the American Red cross. His primary sport responsibilities at FSU are expected to include women's soccer, men's ice hockey along with track and field.
"Brady brings great clinical and administrative experience in providing high quality healthcare to student-athletes," said Knight.
Hopkins began his duties at FSU on July 18, 2018.
