Four-Time NCAA D2 National Champion Ferris State Showcases State & National Brand On National Signing Day
Big Rapids, Mich. - The four-time NCAA Division II National Champion Ferris State Bulldogs showcased both its state and national brand on Wednesday (Feb. 4), signing an impressive class of 45 prep standouts from seven states across the country on National Signing Day.
Head Coach Tony Annese, who guided FSU to its fourth D2 national title in five years this past fall, unveiled another standout class and will discuss each signee during an afternoon press conference at 2 p.m. (ET) at the Ewigleben Sports Complex.
The Bulldogs continued their stronghold in Michigan with 29 in-state standouts in the class of 2026 along with continuing a highly-successful pipeline to Florida with seven signees from the Sunshine State. In addition, FSU added three talented prospects from Arizona along with two from Georgia, two out of Delaware and one each from North Carolina and Ohio in the large class.
The stellar class is filled with all-state standouts who led their respective teams to championship success and comes on the heels of recent classes that have ranked among the country's best in Division II.
"We're thrilled that so many standouts want to come to Ferris State and be part of something special," said Annese. "This is another outstanding class highlighted by many of the top prospects in Michigan. In addition, we've been able to land talented recruits from other parts of the country who are excited to be part of a championship program."
The Bulldogs, who have reached the NCAA Division II Playoffs a nation-leading 11 consecutive years to date, have won their last 30 games in a row and compiled a 16-0 overall record this past fall, becoming one of the only teams in the modern era of college football to accomplish the feat. FSU also set an all-time NCAA record with 844 total points in 2025 and Annese became the first D2 coach ever to win four national championships.
This year's list features 45 incoming talents and a large majority also received significant NCAA Division I interest or scholarship offers. Overall, the class is again projected to be one of the country's best and features a huge dose of players with outstanding experience.
"We've landed a group of standouts that have the talent and ability to become great players and outstanding student-athletes at Ferris State," said Annese. "We're thrilled to have these young men become Bulldogs and believe they have the personality and attitude to help continue our championship tradition."
Ferris State, which also won a second consecutive GLIAC Championship this past fall in addition to the NCAA D2 national title, signed 23 individuals expected to play on the offensive side of the ball along with 17 projected on the defensive side in addition to a specialist and four others projected either as an athlete or at multiple positions.
The Bulldogs again landed many of the state's best players in Michigan, including 11 West Michigan products in their own backyard from schools such as Rockford, Muskegon, Forest Hills Northern, Hudsonville, Ludington, Whitehall, Zeeland East, East Kentwood and Grandville. In addition, Ferris State also picked up top-level talent from the southeast side of the state and in Detroit from programs like Cass Tech, Warren De La Salle, Martin Luther King, Clarkston, Stevenson, Redford Union, Farmington and more.
FSU didn't stop there as the Bulldogs also brought in talent from other parts of the state including the Saginaw, Flint, Grand Blanc and Lansing areas in addition to the Thumb and even the Upper Peninsula.
This year also marks the 15th consecutive year in which the Bulldogs have generated interest and landed standout signees from the state of Florida, landing seven Sunshine State products.
Overall, the group of offensive signees includes six slot receivers, three quarterbacks, two running backs and five outside receivers along with seven offensive linemen. Defensively, the Bulldogs signed six potential defensive backs, eight defensive linemen and three linebackers in a balanced class. The list of athletes also features a long snapper and four athletes with the ability to find a home at various spots. Many of the individuals in the class competed as two-way players and could eventually make an impact at other positions.
Over the past five seasons of action, the Bulldogs own a 65-5 overall record and FSU has reached the NCAA Division II Playoffs 11 consecutive years and counting. Ferris State has also reached the NCAA Division II National Semifinals seven times in the past nine seasons of action and ranks as the country's winningest program over the past 11 full seasons in D2 Football. FSU is 93-7 over the last seven seasons of on-field action. The Bulldogs claimed national titles in both 2021 and 2022 along with 2024 and 2025.
Ferris State also holds the GLIAC's best mark and the best overall record of all collegiate programs in Michigan at 153-21 (.879) overall since the arrival of Annese as head coach in 2012.
