#13 Ferris State Makes Second Half Push In Road Setback At SVSU

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's #13 Ferris State Bulldogs made a second-half charge, but a large halftime deficit was too much to overcome in a 99-89 setback at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Jan. 27) at O'Neill Arena in University Center.

The Bulldogs fell behind 57-35 at the break before trimming the margin back to single digits in the closing minutes. FSU outscored SVSU 54-42 in the second half, however the Cardinals held on down the stretch.

Senior guard Ben Davidson poured in a team-high 27 points for FSU while junior guard Ethan Erickson added 24 points and senior Vejas Grazulis notched 10 points in the decision.

Saginaw Valley State was led by Tre Garrett with 32 points and Toodles Seal with 26 points. Freddie McIntosh added 20 points.

SVSU went 34-of-46 (73.9%) from the free throw stripe in the win over a Bulldog team that played minus two key regulars in Amari Lee and Reece Hazelton due to injury. FSU's Dolapo Olayinka was also sidelined most of the first half due to foul trouble.

Ferris State did win the reboudning battle 36-31, but the Bulldogs finished with 16 turnovers in the game.

The Bulldogs dropped to 16-4 overall and 6-3 in GLIAC play with the setback.

Ferris State returns home to host Northern Michigan on Thursday (Feb. 1) evening starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena. The Bulldogs will then host Michigan Tech on Saturday (Feb. 3) beginning at 3 p.m. (ET).
