Ferris State Falls In GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals At Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Ferris State University men's basketball squad had its season come to a close on Wednesday (March 4) night as the Bulldogs fell to top-seeded Northern Michigan in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinals by a 91-62 score at Vandament Arena in Marquette.

The Bulldogs managed to score 38 points in the paint but could not overcome the Wildcats, who beat FSU for the third time this campaign.

Ferris State opened the first half with a quick layup from Owen Hardy at 18:53 and established a 5-2 lead following Tae Boyd's 3-pointer at 17:59. Senior Mykel Bingham added to the effort with a 3-pointer at 17:03, giving FSU an 8–4 advantage.

Despite maintaining a narrow lead early on, the Bulldogs faced challenges as the Wildcats capitalized on free throws and three-point shooting. By the end of the half, Northern Michigan pulled ahead, ending with a 41-28 lead.

In the second half, FSU faced a challenging period as NMU extended its lead with a strong performance in the paint, totaling 30 points there. Despite the Bulldogs' efforts, including a productive stretch where Bryce Moore and Hardy contributed key baskets, they struggled to close the gap. The half concluded with Ferris State scoring 34 points to Northern Michigan's 50, as the home team maintained control throughout.

Boyd led the Bulldogs with 19 points, converting all six of his free throw attempts. Bingham contributed 15 points, making seven of his 12 field goal attempts and grabbing six rebounds in his final game as a Bulldog. Hardy added nine points and collected seven rebounds. Moore scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers, and recorded three rebounds.

Four Northern Michigan players reached double figures with Dylan Kuehl pacing the Wildcats with 17 points. Both Jackson Dudek and Bennett Basich notched 13 points while Cal Klesmit finished with 12 points.

Ferris State was making its 12th consecutive and 26th overall GLIAC Tournament appearance. FSU closed the year with a 10-18 overall record.
