Isaac Anderson Appointed As Ferris State Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Big Rapids, Mich. - New Ferris State University men's basketball head coach Brooks Miller has landed a familiar face to his coaching staff as Isaac Anderson has been appointed as the Bulldogs' top assistant coach on Miller's first FSU staff.
Anderson has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Trine University, including two seasons where he served under Miller, and helped the Thunder to the 2024 National Championship.
Miller previously led Trine University to the 2024 national title and most recently served as the Associate Head Coach this past season at NCAA Division I Central Michigan. Anderson remained on the staff at Trine this past season after Miller's departure and rejoins him in helping guide the Bulldogs.
"It's great to have both Coach Anderson and his finacee' Emily join us in Big Rapids for our inaugural season at Ferris State," said Miller. "Coach Anderson played a significant role on our staff during our national championship season at Trine in 2024 and has a great understanding of the fundamentals that fuel our program."
"As a former student-athlete himself, he will be a tremendous resource for the development of our players both on and off the floor," he added.
In his first season at Trine in 2023-24, Anderson helped lead the Thunder to a miraculous run en route to the national title. The postseason stretch included a dramatic overtime win over Wisconsin-Platteville to advance to the Final Four. Trine then defeated #3 Trinity (Ct.) and #1 Hampden Sydney to claim the program's first national crown.
Anderson worked on staff at Lakeland University as a Graduate Assistant for two seasons from 2021-23. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration at Lakeland University in Sheboygan Wisconsin.
During his playing career, Anderson competed on the collegiate level as a student-athlete at Lakeland from 2016-20. Anderson played in 69 games in his career and had his best season as a senior, when he started and averaged 8.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocked shots per game. He shot 55.0% from the field that year, led the team in rebounding and blocks, and also was second on the squad in shooting percentage, assists and steals.
Anderson is a native of Linden, Wis., and Iowa-Grant High School.
The Ferris State men's basketball program has a long track record of success that includes more than 1,300 all-time victories, 17 GLIAC Championships and 18 NCAA Tournament appearances along with a national championship in 2018. Since 2004, the Bulldogs have reached the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen five times and won 13 GLIAC regular season or tourney titles. FSU reached the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in 11 years in 2024-25 and has won 20 games or more 10 times in the last 11 full seasons of action. This past season, the Bulldogs made their 12th consecutive and 26th overall GLIAC Tournament appearance in program history.
