Ferris State Men's Golf Slated To Compete In GLIAC Championships This Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team will compete in the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships Friday thru Sunday (April 15-17).

The event will be held at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, beginning on Friday and finishing on Sunday with 18 holes being played each day.

The 2016 GLIAC Championships will consist of 54 holes as the teams will play one round per day.  The low four of five scores will count towards the respective team score for each squad.

In 2015, The Virtues Golf Club was ranked as the number one public course in Ohio and 7th among the top 100 public golf courses in America, by Golf Digest. Located just 40 miles from downtown Columbus, The Virtues' spectacular Arthur Hills-designed championship golf course with upscale banquet and event amenities, delicious dining and variety of player development programs offer any golfers a great reason to visit.

Tiffin enters the league tournament as the defending champions from the fall of 2014, the last time the championship was held before moving to the spring season this year.

Ferris State earned runner-up honors at the 2012 GLIAC Men's Golf Championship before placing sixth in 2013 and eighth in 2014.  Overall, the Bulldogs have captured 19 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships in school history.
