Bulldog Men's Golf Places 7th Overall At North Carolina Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team placed seventh overall at the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tourney, which wrapped up with day two play on Tuesday (March 18) in Monroe, N.C.

The Bulldogs carded a three-round, 869 team total at the Rolling Hills Country Club, which featured a par 72 layout measuring 6,818 yards.

Host Wingate claimed first place (846) in the two-day event while USC-Beaufort came in second 849) in the field of 16 schools.

The Bulldogs shot a 289 in round one followed by back-to-back 290 totals in the final two rounds of competition.

FSU was led by Zach Koerner, who tied for 16th overall with a 215 figure. He shot an even par 72 in round one followed by a 74 in round two and a three-under 69 in the final round.

The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam and McCoy Biagioli along with Sam Havey all placed tied for 31st overall with 219 totals at three-over for the 54 holes of action. Putnam shot a 72 in round one before firing a 71 in the second round and a 76 in round three. Meanwhile, Biagioli carded a 73 in the opening round and posted scores of 71 and 75 in rounds two and three, respectively. Havey shot a 72 in the first round followed by a 74 in round two and a final-round 73.

Finally, Drayton Cleaver came in tied for 51st for the Bulldogs at 223 overall, shooting scores of 73 in the first and last rounds with a 77 in the middle round.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the Findianapolis Intercollegiate event on March 31 and April 1 in Laconia, Ind.
