Ferris State Men's Golf Six Strokes From Advancing Spot Heading Into Final Round Of NCAA Regional

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team remains in contention for a potential trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships heading into the final day of the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional as round two play wrapped up on Friday (May 8) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

The Bulldogs, who had shot a 297 team score in round one on Thursday, came back with a 292 total in round two for a 589 score thru 36 of the 54 holes. FSU is currently eighth overall on the leaderboard, but only a total of seven strokes separate teams listed fourth thru ninth in the event.

The top four teams following round three play on Saturday will advance to the NCAA D2 National Championships.

Currently, Grand Valley State leads the 20-team field with a 573 score followed by Central Missouri (574) and Winona State (576) in the top three. Both Arkansas Tech and Washburn are tied for fourth place at 583 overall with FSU six strokes back from the final advancing spot.

FSU's Ben Miller shot a 75 on Friday and is tied for eighth place overall at 142 for the first two rounds. He had shot a 67 in round one play.

The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam shot a 72 on day two and is currently tied for 23rd in the field after notching a 75 in the first round. He has a 147 total after two rounds.

Meanwhile, Zach Spencer is presently tied for 31st with a 148 total after two rounds as he came in with a 71 on day two following an opening-round score of 77.

Ferris State's Ethan Frost shot a 74 on Friday and is tied for 76th overall with a 154 figure. He had finished with a 80 in the first round.

Finally, Sam Havey is tied for 89th at 157 overall, carding a 79 in the last round. He previously carded a 78 in the opening round.

Final round play is set for Saturday with the Bulldogs slated to hit the tee starting at 11 a.m. (ET).
