Mankato, Mn. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 4-0 to the nationally #2-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks on Saturday (Jan. 23) at the Mayo Clinic Health System Events Center in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play.
Ferris State freshman goaltender Logan Stein made 30 stops for the Bulldogs in his third collegiate start.
The Mavericks jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 12:51 of the first period when Walker Duehr tapped in a feed from Akito Hirose.
Later, at 13:36, the Mavericks scored on the power play when Reggie Lutz hammered in a one-timer from the top of the right face-off circle.
In the second period, Jake Jaremko gave the Mavericks a 3-0 lead on a rebound off the end wall at 3:16 of the middle frame.
For the Mavericks, Dallas Gerads capped the scoring at 18:37 of the second period on the man advantage for the 4-0 final.
The Mavericks held a 34-11 edge in shots on goal. Minnesota State goaltender Dryden McKay made 11 stops for the shutout victory.
Ferris State finished 0-3 on the man advantage while Minnesota State went 2-4.
The Bulldogs and Mavericks head for a rematch on Sunday at 3:07 pm CT in Mankato, Minn.
