Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to the nationally #3 ranked Minnesota State Mavericks in non-conference action Saturday (Feb. 20) inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Ferris State freshman forward Stepan Pokorny scored his second goal in three games while senior forward Marshall Moise picked up his third point of the weekend.

For the second-straight night, Minnesota State scored first, 50 seconds into the contest when Jake Jaremko tallied for the 1-0 lead on a dish out in front of the Bulldog goal.

Ferris State evened the score when sophomore defenseman Jake Willets made a drag move and took a shot that bounced past Minnesota State goaltender Dryden McKay off the toes of freshman forward Stepan Pokorny. Pokorny's goal was his second of the season from Willets (4) and senior forward Marshall Moise (4).

The Mavericks responded when Wyatt Aamodt scored at 8:33 of the second period in four-on-four play.

Later, at 17:25, Brendan Furry cashed in to give Minnesota State a 3-1 ead, followed by Cade Borchardt at 19:45 of the second period on the power play as the Mavericks went up 4-1.

Finally, in the third period, Walker Duehr added an insurance marker at 18:35 for the 5-1 final.

Ferris State held Minnesota State 2-of-12 on the weekend on the power play. In goal for the Bulldogs, Ferris State freshman goaltender Logan Stein made 33 stops. McKay made 14 stops in the contest for the Mavericks.

The Bulldogs have one contest next weekend in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play against the nationally #20 ranked Lake Superior State Lakers on Friday (Feb. 26) inside Ewigleben Ice Arena. The game is slated for a 7:07 p.m. (ET) start.
