Ferris State Hockey Falls 5-2 to Bowling Green in Weekend Finale

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team suffered a 5-2 setback to Bowling Green State University Saturday (Nov. 15) in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play at Slater Family Ice Arena.

The Bulldogs (2-10-0, 1-5 CCHA) fell behind 3-0 in the first period but battled back in the remaining 40 minutes. However, BGSU withstood FSU's comeback effort and completed the weekend sweep.

Noah Morneau started the scoring at 10:25, his fourth goal of the series. Quinn Emerson and Dominik Rymon assisted for their fourth and fifth point of the series, respectively.

Jaden Grant scored BGSU's next two goals with the first coming at 12:37. Emerson had another assist and Jack Blake recorded his first point of the year with a helper. Grant scored again 20 seconds later to give BGSU a 3-0 lead that would hold into the intermission. Tyler Hotson and Maxwell Martin had the assists on Grant's second goal.

John Lundy scored his first goal as a Bulldog at 2:05 in the second period and put FSU on the board. Holden Doell broke out of the Bulldog zone and executed a perfect two-on-one with Lundy to light the lamp. Doell got his first assist of the season on the play while Lundy's goal was his third point.

Brody Waters scored at 5:49 in the third period to put BGSU back up by three. Ben Doran and Brandon Whynott assisted.

Carter Rapalje brought the Bulldogs within two goals with a short-handed goal at 7:36. The Falcons misplayed a puck at center ice and Rapalje got to the puck first, skated past the Falcon defense and flipped a wrist shot to the top-right corner for his third goal of the year. His goal was unassisted and FSU's second short-handed tally this season.

FSU sent out the extra attacker late in regulation but Tyler Schleppe was whistled for boarding with just over two minutes remaining and Waters converted a power play goal at 19:27 to seal BGSU's win. Morneau and Jackson Niedermayer assisted.

For the game, FSU had 16 shots on goal, 27 faceoff wins, 12 blocked shots, went 0-4 on the power play and 2-3 on the penalty kill. BGSU had 29 shots on goal, 33 faceoff wins and nine blocked shots.
