Men's Tennis Finishes Third At GLIAC Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team rolled to a 5-2 victory over West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Sunday (April 18) to finish third overall in the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

FSU topped the fifth-seeded Lakers in Sunday's third-place match after splitting a pair of matches in Saturday's (April 17) first day of action.  The number two seeded Bulldogs beat seventh-seeded Tiffin in the quarterfinals before suffering a 5-2 setback against number three seed Wayne State in the semifinals.

The Bulldogs improved to 12-7 overall by virute of Sunday's victory with the Lakers falling to 12-12 this campaign.

FSU trailed 2-1 following doubles play as the Lakers captured both the second and third flights.  However, Ferris responded by taking the first four completed singles positions in the come from behind win.

Senior Kyle Revall was a double-winner on the day for the Bulldogs as he pulled out a three-set victory at the top singles flight and teamed up with junior Steven Roberts for an 8-4 victory at number one doubles.

The Bulldogs, who are currently ranked 38th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and fourth in the Midwest Regional listing, will now await a likely berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament.  The pairings and sites for regional-round play on May 6-8 will be announced later this month.
