Ferris State Caps Off Unbeaten Weekend With Third Consecutive Tennis Home Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams capped off a big weekend of action on Sunday (Feb. 15), sweeping McKendree (Ill.) in a regional twin bill at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs took a 6-1 win in the women's match to start the day and concluded the afternoon with a 5-2 decision on the men's side.

With the victories, the Bulldogs completed a big three-match weekend with three wins each in both men's and women's competition.

In the women's tilt, Ferris State won the top two doubles flights for the initial point in the match and then came back to claim the top three singles flights in straight-sets followed by a pair of wins at five and six singles. The Bearcats' only win came in three sets at four singles.

Ferris State picked up doubles wins at flights two and three in the men's contest for the early lead and then held off McKendree in singles play. FSU also won the top three flights in straight-sets in men's singles play and also got a straight-set win at five singles. The Bearcats captured the third and sixth flights in three-set fashion.

The win was the fifth in a row for the men's squad, which is now 6-1 on the year.

Meanwhile, the women's team is now 5-1 overall and has won three-straight decisions.

Ferris State will be back in action with a men's match on Friday, Feb. 20, at Western Michigan.

Then, on Saturday, Feb. 21, FSU returns to the court versus Hillsdale in another regional match. The women's contest is slated for a 10 a.m. (ET) start at the Racquet and Fitness Center with the men's match set to begin at 2 p.m. (ET).
