Ferris State Tennis Squads Register Doubleheader Sweep Over Hillsdale In Regional Action
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads came up with another big home sweep on Saturday (Feb. 21) as the Bulldogs rolled past Hillsdale in regional play at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
The women opened the day with a 5-2 win over the Chargers and then men followed with a 7-0 victory in the home tilt.
In the women's match, the Bulldogs captured the doubles point with wins at the first and second spots in the lineup. FSU then claimed four of the six singles flights, including a straight-set triumph at six singles along with three-set wins at two, three and five singles.
With the women's victory, the Bulldogs ran their record to 6-1 overall this season and FSU has now won its last four contests to date.
In the men's match, Ferris State swept the doubles round for the initial point of the day. The Bulldogs then took all six singles flights with four decided in straight-sets.
Ferris State improved to 8-1 overall this year with the men's victory, recording its seventh win in a row. The victory came on the heels of a 5-2 road triumph over NCAA Division I Western Michigan on Friday evening.
The Bulldog women will next be in action on Friday, Feb. 27, at Western Michigan with match time set for 12 p.m. (ET). Both teams then head to Florida for their annual spring break trip, which opens on March 8 with a doubleheader at Florida Southern.
