Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads opened their spring break trip to Florida on Sunday (March 8) with a pair of setbacks versus Florida Southern at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center in Lakeland.
The Bulldog men's squad dropped a 5-2 decision versus Florida Southern while the women fell by a 4-3 score in a tightly-contested affair.
In the men's contest, the Bulldogs dropped the doubles point as the hosts took two of the three doubles matches. In singles play, FSU garnered wins at the top two spots in the lineup, but Florida Southern captured the other four matches to garner the win.
Meanwhile, in the women's contest, Ferris State also dropped the doubles point before coming back to split the six singles flights with wins at one, three and four singles.
The Bulldog men's team fell to 8-2 overall this season with the setback while the women are now 6-3 on the year.
Both FSU teams will next square off against Augustana (S.D.) on Tuesday, March 10, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
