Ferris State Tennis Splits At Rival GVSU; Men Earn League Road Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads concluded Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) weekend action with a league road split against West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Saturday (March 28) evening.

The Bulldog men stayed unbeaten in the GLIAC with a 5-2 win over the Lakers while the women suffered their first league setback with a 7-0 decision versus GVSU.

In the men's match, the Lakers captured the doubles point with wins at one and three singles before Ferris State responded and claimed wins in four of the six singles matches. FSU took the top three sets in the singles lineup and also got a three-set win at five singles.

Meanwhile, the Lakers earned the win in the women's match, claiming the doubles point with victories at the top two spots in the lineup. FSU's third pairing of Yara Madi and Ainsley Zulueta were winners in the doubles round. However, GVSU proceeded to win all six singles contests over the Bullldogs.

Ferris State will be back in action on Friday, April 3, as the Bulldogs begin a four-match league homestand against Michigan Tech. Match time is set for 10 a.m. (ET) for the women's tilt and 2 p.m. (ET) for the men's encounter at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
