Eleven Ferris State Tennis Standouts Earn All-Conference Recognition
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads were well-represented on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams for the 2025-26 campaign as the league announced its annual postseason award recipients in conjunction with the conference tournament this weekend in Midland.
The Bulldogs had a total of 11 student-athletes garner all-conference recognition in balloting by the league's member head coaches, including six from the men's squad and five on the women's side, including three major award recipients.
On the men's side, junior standout Kevin Kovacs was tabbed as the GLIAC Player of the Year. Additionally, the Bulldog coaching staff and head coach Mark Doren received Men's Coaching Staff of the Year recognition. Also, freshman Madeline Peisley of the women's squad garnered GLIAC Freshman of the Year accolades.
For the men, FSU had three first-team singles recipients on the all-conference squad, including Kovacs along with Felipe Iser and Jose Perez. The duo of Erik Kovacs and Adrian Catahan earned first team doubles recognition as did the tandem of Kevin Kovacs and Iser. Meanwhile, Catahan and Praneel Pichika claimed All-GLIAC Second Team singles honors and Erik Kovacs was a GLIAC Honorable Mention choice.
In the women's all-conference listing, Peisley claimed All-GLIAC First Team singles honors. The duo of Ana Hernandez and Maria Herhandez were tabbed to the All-GLIAC First Team doubles squad. FSU's Yara Madi was honored as an All-GLIAC Second Team singles competitor while Ainzley Zulueta received All-GLIAC Honorable Mention laurels.
Both Ferris State teams earned first-round GLIAC Tournament byes and will take part in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday in Midland.
