Four Top Ten All-Time Efforts Highlight Ferris State Track and Field's First 2025 Action
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads competed for the first time in 2025 on Saturday (Jan. 18) at the Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale.
FSU's Daisy Englund placed fourth in the 600 meters (1:04.20) for the Bulldog women. Meanwhile, Rebecca Marvin was fourth in the weight throw (49-10) and also came in ninth in the shot put (11.50m).
Kendra Montague placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:02.86) and Hanna Brock was seventh in the mile run (5:05.44). Brock was also eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:31.44) with Whitney Farrell 10th (10:34.54).
The Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay squad consisting of Olivia Malloy, Nyah Tyron, Montague and Abigail Winkle placed seventh (4:08.05).
On the men's side, Cooper Sorsen paced FSU with a runner-up effort in the 3,000 meters (8:24.66). Hunter Richardson was seventh in the shot put (44-10.25) and Hayden Josef finished eighth in the high jump (6-3.50). Devin Dennison was eighth in the men's weight throw invite section (56-6).
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Josh Langeland, Jared Watchorn, Luke Berney and Dean Topolski finished sixth (3:26.90).
Overall, a total of four FSU student-athletes moved into the top 10 all-time in school history in their respective events, including Sorsen in the 3,000 meters (#4 all-time) along with Englund in the 600 meters (#6 all-time), Langeland in the 600 meters (#6 all-time) and VanDam in the 600 (#7 all-time).
The Bulldogs will travel back to Allendale for the Bill Clinger Classic on Jan. 24.
