Ferris State Track Squads Finish With Seven Top 10 All-Time School Marks At GVSU Big Meet

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads competed in one of the nation's largest collegiate events over the weekend, taking part in the Grand Valley State Big Meet held inside the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

The bulk of FSU's competitors took part on day two of the two-day event on Saturday while selected competitors also competed on day one Friday at the regional event.

A total of six FSU standouts finished with a combined seven marks among the school's top 10 all-time in their respective events.

FSU's Abigail Winkle placed second in the 400 meters (56.71) and was also ninth in the 200 meters (25.61). Her time in the 400 meters ranks second all-time in Bulldog history while her 200-meter time is third.

Meanwhile, Hanna Brock finished fourth in the 3,000 meters (10:08.58), recording the eigthh-best time in program history, while Whitney Farrell was fifth in the event (10:13.79).

Allie Delost came in seventh overall in the 60 meters (7.86) with the school's third-best all-time showing and Alexis Le was ninth in the high jump (5-0.25). Maddy Biller took 11th in the shot put (39-1.75).

Farrel also competed on Friday in day one action and was seventh in section three of the 5,000 meters (17:52.25).

The Bulldogs' Lacey Zimmerman also notched the seventh-fastest 60-meter dash time in school history, turning in a time of 8.06 in the race. Additionally, Lizzie Haines came away with the ninth-best school all-time performance in the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 9.56.

In the men's competition, Ferris State's Cooper Sorsen won the mile run (4:13.97) and had the third-fastest time in school history.

The Bulldogs' Aaron Pierce came in fifth in the long jump (21-9.5) and Hayden Josef was eighth in the high jump (6-2). Devin Dennison placed eighth in the weight throw (55-2.75), Bryson Fronta finished ninth in the 200 meters (22.44) and Blaine Rogers was 11th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.71).

FSU also wound up eighth in the men's 4x400-meter relay as the group of Josh Langeland, Lucas Vandam, Luke Berney and Dean Topolski finished with a time of 3:25.43 in the race.

Ferris State's Blake Ferguson was seventh overall on Friday in day one action in second 10 of the 5,000 meters (15:49.33) while Ryan Ososki finished 10th in second eight (15:35.92) and Ben Knuth was 12th (15:38.25).

The Bulldogs will head to the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up meet on Feb. 21 in University Center.
