Bulldog Track Squads Notch Best Combined Effort At GLIAC Championships In Nearly Two Decades

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads finished up action in the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday (May 2) as the meet concluded in Allendale. Together, the two programs combined for the Bulldogs' best overall effort at the event in nearly two decades.

The Bulldog women tallied 59 total points in the competition and placed sixth overall while the men finished seventh with 34 points in the team race.

FSU's sixth-place women's finish and 59 total points represented the Bulldogs' highest finish and most points scored in the league outdoor meet on the women's side since placing fourth with 89 points in 2008.

Additionally, the men's 34 total points and seventh-place effort was only a point shy of last year's performance when Ferris State totaled 35 points to finish sixth, which marked the program's best showing since a sixth-place finish with 44.5 points in 2005. Together, the two programs tallied more combined points than in any single year over the past two decades.

Ferris State placed second and earned runner-up honors in the women's 4x100-meter relay as the quartet of Lacey Zimmerman, Angela Kotecki, Darnesha Fraley and Allie Delost clocked a school-record 46.91 overall.

Ferris State's Whitney Farrell finished fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:44.33) with a NCAA D2 National Provisional qualifying time.

Delost placed fourth in the 100 meters (12.10) while Abigail Winkle placed fifth in the 400 meters (56.36) and was eighth in the 200 meters (25.30).

Meanwhile, Kotecki recorded a sixth-place finish in the long jump (18-1.5) and Rebecca Marvin was seventh in the hammer throw (141-8). Hanna Brock took eighth place in the 5,000 meters (17:34.81) and Nyah Tyron placed eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:04.41). Alexis Le wound up eighth in the high jump (4-11).

The Bulldogs also came in sixth in the women's 4x400-meter relay with the group of Winkle, Daisy Englund, Fraley and Kendra Montague turning in a time of 3:58.46.

In the men's competition, Devin Dennison earned runner-up honors in the hammer throw (193-6) with a NCAA D2 national qualifying throw. He was also third in the discus (159-1). Cooper Sorsen placed third in the 5,000 meters (14:31.26) and Jack Romel was third in the javelin (157-6).

Ferris State's Charlie Sutton finished fourth in the 200 meters (21.58) and was sixth in the men's 100 meters (10.82). Teammate Bryson Fronta took sixth in the 200 meters (21.99) and was eighth (10.97) in the 100 meters. Also, Michael Floriano came in eighth in the 200 meters (22.47).

Josh Langeland placed sixth in the 400 meters (48.94) and Blaine Rogers was sixth in the 110 hurdles (14.95) while Devon Strobel came in sixth in the discus (152-10). Aaron Bowerman finished seventh in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:45.27) and Hayden Josef was seventh in the high jump (6-2.75).

FSU's 4x100-meter relay squad of Rogers, Ignatius Jackson, Fronta and Sutton placed fifth (42.15) as did the 4x400-meter relay team of Dean Topolski, Lucas Vandam, Langeland and Luke Berney with a time of 3:20.43.
