Ferris State Track Squad Combine For 21 Top-15 Finishes At Jet's Pizza Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed over the weekend at the annual Jet's Pizza Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State in University Center, Mich.

Overall, the Bulldogs had a combined 21 top-15 meet finishes at the event.

The Bulldogs' Whitney Farrell came in fourth in the 5,000 meters (17:58.84) and also placed ninth in the mile run (5:10.00) with Ella Kowatch 15th in the same race (5:18.67).

FSU's Abby Griffith placed 15th in the 800 meters (2:21.58).

Meanwhile, Alexis Le finished 10th in the high jump (4-11.75).

Ferris State's distance medley relay squad of Taylor Huntoon, Oliviah Malloy, Griffith and Olivia Van Denend took eight place (12:41.34).

The Bulldogs also took 12th place in the 4x400-meter relay (4:15.30) with a pairing of Breanna Campbell, Grace Bullock, Malloy and Jocelyn Shattuck competing in the race.

In the men's competition, Lucas Sefferlein came in eighth in the 400 meters (49.44) and Jared Watchorn was eighth in the 800 meters (1:54.85). Andrew Shafley was 14th in the 800 meters (1:56.70) and Hayden Gould took 14th place in the mile (4:24.35).

The Bulldogs had five of the top 15 finishers in the men's 5,000 meters with Aaron Bowerman fifth (15:09.94) followed by Ben Knuth in eighth place (15:18.94), Emmett Johnson in ninth place (15:22.04), Theodore Davis in 11th place (15:24.23) and Ryan Ososki in 13th place (15;29.66).

Ferris State's 4x400-meter relay squad of Chase Segaar, Josh Langeland, Luke Berney and Sefferlein took fifth place overall (3:22.08) with the distance medley squad of Shafley, Langeland, Jared Watchorn and David Harris coming in seventh (10:40.16).

FSU's Devin Dennison took fourth place in the weight throw (60-1.25). Aaron Pierce was seventh in the high jump (20-10.75). Hunter Richardson finished 12th in the shot put (47-0.25).

Ferris State will return to action at the GVSU Big Meet on Feb. 13-14 in Allendale.
