Bulldogs Total 39 Top-10 Meet Finishes In Final Tune-Up For GLIAC Championships
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads wrapped up preparations for the annual Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships by taking part in the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up Meet this weekend (Feb. 20) in University Center, Mich.
The Bulldogs combined for 39 top-10 efforts in the non-scoring team event and came up with three individual event champions to go with three runner-up performances.
Ferris State's Whitney Farrell won the mile run (5:01.03). Sadie Larson took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.17) and Lizzie Haines was seventh (9.46). Alexis Le placed fifth in the high jump (5-1) and Angela Kopeck was fifth in the long jump (17-4.25).
The Bulldogs' Maddy Biller came in fifth in the shot put (35-9.5) and Raquel Hernandez was seventh (34-7). Biller was also sixth in the weight throw (45-2.25) and Hernandez was 10th in the event (41-0.5).
FSU's Lacey Zimmerman placed seventh in the 200 meters (26.24) and was eighth in the 60 meters (8.06). Darnesha Fraley came in ninth in the 200 meters (26.60) and Breanna Campbell was 10th (26.78).
In the 400 meters, the Bulldogs' Abigail Johnson placed seventh (1:03.39) with Claudia Johnson eighth (1:03.39), Oliviah Malloy ninth (1:03.53) and Grace Bullock 10th (1:04.10) with Keanna Barber 11th (1:04.33).
Ava LaMilza placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (10:35.51) while Emma Berglund took eighth in the 800 meters (2:28.01). Olivia Denend was seventh in the mile (5:13.27) and Jessica Durkee came in eighth (5:13.75).
In the men's competition, Trevor Smith won the 60 meters (6.89) while Blace Farrington was third (6.91) and Aiden Fletcher came in seventh (7.07). Meanwhile, Farrington won the 200 meters (21.92) with Smith earning runner-up honors (22.19) in the race. Lucas Seifferlein came in second in the 400 meters (49.01) with Lucas Vandam fifth (53.87).
Ferris State's Ben Knuth took fifth in the 3,000 meters (8:49.26) and Jarrett Wentworth came in seventh in the 5,000 meters (16:36.00). Josh Langland placed seventh in the 800 meters (1:56.16) and Aaron Bowerman was seventh in the mile run (4:23.01) with David Harris 10th (4:25.00).
Blaine Rogers wound up fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.63) and Aaron Pierce was fifth in the long jump (15-2.25).
The Bulldogs' Devin Dennison was the runner-up in the weight throw with a NCAA qualifying performance of 64-1.75 in the event. Hunter Richardson finished fourth in the shot put (49-0.75) with Brady Zarb sixth (44-2.75). Zarb also finished ninth in the weight throw (47-9.25).
Ferris State will compete in the 2026 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1, in University Center.
