Ferris State Freshman Katie Shuboy Tabbed As GLIAC Pitcher Of The Week
Big Rapids, Mich. - For the first time in her collegiate career, Ferris State University freshman pitcher Katie Shuboy (Richmond) has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Shuboy had a big week for the Bulldogs, recording a team-leading 0.91 earned run average and a perfect 3-0 mark this past week. The rookie tossed 23 innings in four appearances with three complete-game efforts.
For the week, she allowed only three earned runs on 15 hits with 13 strikeouts and four walks. Shuboy tossed all seven innings in each of her final three appearances last week, including a win over league leader Saginaw Valley State last Tuesday she she did not give up an earned run.
She also posted wins over the weekend against both Parkside and Roosevelt in a pair of 6-1 decisions as FSU closed the week with five consecutive victories overall.
The Bulldogs have now won nine of their last 11 games overall this year.
Ferris State will begin a four-game league series against Davenport at home on Friday (May 1) with first pitch set for 1 p.m. (ET) for game one and 3 p.m. (ET) for game two. The Bulldogs then visit DU on Saturday (May 2) before returning home to tentatively close out the regular season with a makeup doubleheader against Purdue Northwest on Sunday (May 3).
