Ferris State's Kadyn Blanchard Becomes FSU's All-Time Career Scoring Leader
Big Rapids, Mich. - Standout senior guard Kadyn Blanchard (Freeland) officially became Ferris State University's all-time women's basketball career scoring leader on Saturday (Jan. 24), breaking the school record set more than 20 years ago in FSU's dominating 90-59 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home win over visiting Lake Superior State.
Blanchard entered the game 22 points shy of tying the mark previously held by Hall of Fame standout Lucy DeMartin and surpassed the figure in the first half, scoring 23 of her game-high 25 points prior to halftime as the 19th-ranked Bulldogs built a commanding lead.
A sixth-year senior who began her collegiate career during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign, Blanchard has now tallied 1,724 career points in 117 collegiate games, averaging 14.7 points per game in her career to date. Additionally, she missed most of two full seasons due to injury.
In Saturday's tilt, she first moved past former All-American standout Rachel Folcik's then second-place career total of 1,705 points before breaking DeMartin's previous all-time career record of 1,721 points set from 2000-04. DeMartin was inducted into the Bulldog Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023 while Folcik earned her induction this past fall as part of the Class of 2025.
Along with Blanchard, two other Ferris State seniors also reached career milestones in Saturday's win as both guard Mia Riley (Fowler) and forward Mya Hiram (Onstead) each surpassed the 1,000 career point mark in the win.
Saturday's win lifted Ferris State to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the GLIAC.
The Bulldogs will continue their six-game homestand on Monday (Jan. 26) night, hosting Sagianw Valley State in conference play with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
