FSU Women's Golf Takes Fifth Place At UMSL Spring Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team closed out action at the Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational with a fifth-place overall team finish on Monday (April 14) in St. Louis, Mo.

The Bulldogs carded a 921 team score for the 54 holes of action, shooting 310 in round one followed by 307 in round two and 304 in the third and final round of the 18-team event held at Norwood Hills Country Club.

Host UMSL won the event with a 869 team figure followed by Indianapolis in second (898), Tiffin in third (912) and Drury in fourth (919) in front of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs were led by Kamryn Shannon, who shot a 222 total for the three rounds and placed seventh overall. She carded a 76 in round one followed by identical 73 scores in the final two rounds.

FSU's Lizzie Anderson carded a 234 total and placed tied for 28th overall with rounds of 79 in the first, 78 in the second and 77 in the third.

Meanwhile, Kylie Walker placed 33rd overall for the Bulldogs with a 236 score, shooting a first-round 79 followed by a 77 in round two and an 80 in the third and final round.

Also, Ashley Thomasma came in tied for 39th on the leaderboard with a three-round total of 237 for the tourney. She shot a 82 in round one and a 79 in the second round before closing with a 76 total.

Finally, Taylor Musselman also placed tied for 39th at 237 overall, firing a 76 in the first round and a 83 in round two to go with a 78 in the last round.

Ferris State's Susie Gietl competed as an individual and finished tied for 15th with a 228 total on rounds of 79, 73 and 76 overall for the three days of competition.

The Bulldogs will compete in the GLIAC Championships April 25-27 in Augusta, Mich.
