Bulldog Women's Golf In Second Place After Round One Play At GLIAC Championships
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team sits in second place following opening-round play at the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday (April 25).
FSU shot a 298 team score in the opening round and trails only leader Grand Valley State, which carded a 288 score in round one. Wayne State is currently third (299) and Davenport fourth (307) in the nine-team field.
The top four teams at the end of round two play will compete in the league semifinals. Round two play starts on Saturday (April 26) at 9 a.m. (ET) with the semifinals taking place later in the day and the head-to-head championship match set for Sunday (April 27).
In round one, Ashley Thomasma led FSU with a 73 and sits tied for fourth overall. Lizzie Anderson carded a 74 and is tied for sixth along with the Bulldogs' Susie Gietl, who also shot a 74 in first-round play. Kamryn Shannon came in with a 77 and is tied for 17th on the leaderboard while Kylie Walker notched a 78 and is tied for 22nd.
The event is being held this year in Augusta, Mich., with action at Stonehedge North Golf Course near Battle Creek.
The 2025 GLIAC Championships ontinue the format established five years ago with each league school competing in 36 holes of stroke play. The low four of five scores will count towards the respective team score for each squad.
Following round two, the top four teams will advance to head-to-head medal play on Saturday with a bracket format similar to the current format utilized at the NCAA Championships. The two winning teams following semifinal-round play will advance to the finals set for Sunday in which a GLIAC Champion will be crowned.

Overall, the Bulldog women's golf squad has captured five GLIAC Championships in school history heading into the event and claimed the title two years ago before reaching the semifinals last season.
