Women's Golf 5th After Day One At Beall Fall Classic; Shannon Holds Individual Lead

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf squad sits in fifth place after the opening day of play at the Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay on Monday (Oct. 6) at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a first-round 308 team score and came back with a 316 total in round two to finish the first day of play at 624 for the tournament. Each of the 17 competing teams played two rounds on Monday with the final round set for Tuesday in the 54-hole event.

Host Findlay shot a 595 score in the first two rounds and holds an eight-shot lead over Grand Valley State, which is second with a 603 score. Indianapolis is in third place (614) and Gannon fourth (623) in front of FSU.

Individually, Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon holds the day one lead at two-under par thru two rounds of play. She shot an even-par 72 in round one and a two-under 70 in round two for a 142 score, holding a five-shot advantage over Findlay's Ellie Yeazell, who is second at 147 after the first two rounds of play.

The Bulldogs' Taylor Musselman is tied for 30th at 158 overall on rounds of 78 and 80 during Monday's action. Meanwhile, Lizzie Anderson is tied for 40th with a 160 score, carding a 76 in round one and an 84 in round two.

Ferris State's Kylie Walker posted a 164 score for the first two rounds of play and is tied for 53rd in the field. She notched back-to-back rounds of 82 on day one. Teammate Ashley Thomasma shot a 166 with scores of 82 and 84 for a share of 60th place.

Also, FSU's Paige Anderson competed as an individual and shot a 87 in round one and a 84 for the second 18 holes of play for a 171 score and a share of 74th overall.

The final round of play starts on Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. (ET).
