FSU Women's Golf Ninth Overall After Day One At Saint Leo Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team concluded day one play in ninth place overall at the Saint Leo University Invitational on Monday (Oct. 20) in Dade City, Fla.

The Bulldogs opened the three-round event with a 609 team score thru two rounds of action, shooting a 301 in the first round and a 308 figure in round two.

Ferris State is the lone team from outside the state of Florida or South Carolina in the 11-team field.

Senior Kamryn Shannon and sophomore Kylie Walker both finished day one play tying for 19th place on the leaderboard after shooting a combined 149 (+5) apiece over two rounds. Shannon opened with an even-par 72 before carding a 77 (+5) in the second round. Walker, meanwhile, improved significantly from a 77 (+5) in the first round to an even-par 72 in the second.

Lizzie Anderson tied for 44th with a score of 157 (+13), shooting a 76 (+4) in the first round and an 81 (+9) in the second.

Meanwhile, Taylor Musselman and Ashley Thomasma both finished with a total of 159 (+15), placing them in a tie for 51st. Musselman recorded rounds of 76 (+4) and 83 (+11), while Thomasma improved from an initial 81 (+9) to a 78 (+6) in her second round.

Ferris will aim to climb the leaderboard in the final round of play, which takes place on Tuesday (Oct. 21) starting at 8 a.m. (ET).
