Bulldog Women's Golf Comes In 11th Overall At Patriot Invite In California

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team started its spring action by placing 11th overall in the Patriot Invitational held on Monday and Tuesday (March 16-17) in Carmel, Calif.

The event was hosted by Dallas Baptist University and played at the Quail Lodge Golf Club. Nine of the 12 competing teams were ranked in the top 43 nationally, including the Bulldogs at #28 in the latest national listing.

FSU shot a 939 effort for the 54 holes of play with scores of 312 in round one, 315 in round two and another 312 figure in the third and final round.

Ferris State was led by senior Kamryn Shannon, who carded a final score of 224 overall to place tied for ninth on the leaderboard. She shot a 74 in the first round before coming back with a 79 in round two and a 71 in the last round.

FSU's Lizzie Anderson tied for 12th individually at 225 for the tournament, shooting a 75 in the opening 18 holes of play along with a 70 in the second round and an 80 in round three.

Meanwhlie, Ashley Thomasma placed 57th overall with a 246 score on rounds of 82, 87 and 77 in the three rounds, respectivey.

The Bulldogs' Kylie Walker tied for 60th and finished at 249 for the event. She opened the event with an 85 and then shot a 79 in round two before closing with another 85 figure.

Finally, Taylor Musselman came in tied for 63rd with a final total of 252 over the two days of play. Musselman shot an 81 in the first round and an 87 in the second round to go with a final-round 84 score.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the FIndianapolis Intercollegiate Tourney set for March 30-31 in Laconia, Ind.
