FSU Women's Golf Third At UMSL Spring Invite; Shannon Earns Runner-Up Honors

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's golf team came away with a third-place team finish at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational, which concluded on Monday (April 13) at Northwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis, Mo.

The Bulldogs shot a three-round 893 team score with figures of 298, 300 and 295 over the three rounds of action. Grand Valley State took first place with a 875 total while host UMSL was second at 882 in the field of 17 teams.

Ferris State's Kamryn Shannon shot even-par for the event with a 213 total, earning runner-up honors on the individual leaderboard. She was only one shot behind the individual medalist and carded scores of 75 in round one, 72 in round two and an impressive 66 in the final round.

The Bulldogs' Lizzie Anderson tied for 12th overall at 224, shooting a first-round 76 before back-to-back 74 scores in each of the final two rounds.

Meanwhile, Ashley Thomasma placed tied for 21st with a 227 final total. She notched a 71 in the first round followed to identical scores of 78 in each of the last two rounds.

FSU's Kylie Walker was close behind in a share of 24th place at 229 for the three rounds. After opening with back-to-back 76 scores in each of the first two rounds, she finished with a 77 in the last 18 holes of play.

Finally, Taylor Musselman came in tied for 49th overall with a 243 effort for the 54 holes of play. She shot scores of 78, 83 and 82 in rounds one thru three, respectively.

The Bulldogs' Isabel Kelly competed as an individual and wound up tied for 39th on the leaderboard, recording a final score of 237 for the three rounds. Kelly posted a 78 in the opening round to go with a 82 in round two and a 77 in the last round.

Ferris State will next take part in the GLIAC Championships set for April 17-19 in Augusta, Mich.
