Four FSU Soccer Standouts Claim All-Region Accolades After Record-Breaking Year

Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of four Ferris State University women's soccer players have attained all-region laurels for the Bulldogs after a record-breaking fall campaign.

The 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Women's All-Midwest Region squad was announced late Wednesday and four FSU student-athletes made the list. 

Senior forward Nichole Boehnke (Grand Blanc) claimed All-Midwest Region First Team honors after a standout senior campaign while senior goalkeeper Maddie Haustein (Novi) along with senior defender Ashley Bradstreet (Grandville) and senior forward Casey Shauman (Portage) both attained all-region second team laurels.

Along with the NSCAA All-Region mention, FSU's Bradstreet was also named Wednesday to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team as chosen by the region's sports information directors.
Ferris State's four all-region selections in the NSCAA voting were the second-most overall behind only Grand Valley State's five all-region picks.

This season, Ferris State set a new school record with 14 victories overall and placed the highest in school history with a runner-up league regular season finish. FSU set a new school mark with nine league wins and posted a school all-time best 12-match unbeaten streak at one point this year. 

Additionally, the Bulldogs also set a school record for most shutouts in a campaign (8) and most consecutive shutouts (4) while being ranked among the top six in the Midwest Region. FSU did not drop a match after the opening weekend of the season until mid-October under head coach Andy McCaslin's direction. 

Boehnke paced the Bulldogs with a squad-high 19 points on eight goals and three assists in 19 contests. She also produced four game-winners while ranking among the league's top overall scoring leaders.

Meanwhile, Bradstreet and Haustein helped pace the back end for the Bulldogs, who ranked among the league's top overall defensive units with the eight shutout victories. Bradstreet was a GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week this year and tallied an assist while playing in all 20 contests.

Haustein had one of the best seasons ever for a Bulldog goalkeeper as she allowed only20 goals in 20 games and totaled 159 saves to go with a 14-5-1 overall record in net. She claimed the GLIAC's Goalkeeper of the Year honor and was a first-team All-GLIAC selection.

Finally, Shauman earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention accolades this season. In her final campaign, she notched 12 points on five goals and two assists with a game-winner. She played in 19 outings and led the squad with a team-high 56 total shots.
